Former Kelley Drye Partner Gets Payout in EEOC Age Discrimination Suit
Eugene D'Ablemont, ex-partner in law firm Kelley Drye & Warren is going to get $574,000 from the firm as part of a consent decree signed between the two parties last week.
D'Ablemont has alleged that the firm discriminated against him based on his age. The EEOC filed the suit against the law firm in 2010. D'Ablemont also said that the firm retaliated against him after he filed suit against it. Kelley Drye was claiming that since he was a partner and not an employee, he could not claim protection under the anti-age discrimination laws. The firm has since then changed its partnership agreements, which means that the partners who continue working after they are 70 are compensated only on their performance.
