Job Title:
Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal

Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Corporate Counsel will be based in Japan and primarily support the Sales and Marketing teams for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Drafting a range of IT service agreements, technology licensing agreements, and other high-value agreements with AWS’s enterprise customers and partners.
- Leading key regional and global initiatives to address emerging regulatory and policy issues, and to support the growth of AWS Japan’s business.
- Providing strategic and day-to-day legal advice.
- Working on key business development initiatives and regulatory issues.
- Handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Education and Experience Information:
- Law degree from a reputable university or college.
- Licensed to practice law in Japan and/or the United States or other common law jurisdiction.
- Approximately between 2 – 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with several years of experience at a leading global law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize complex issues and ideas clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, while also collaborating effectively with other legal team members and global business teams.
- Must have strong ability to communicate orally and in writing, draft agreements, and negotiate in Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing, AI/ML, or consulting contracts.
- Familiarity with privacy and data protection laws.
- Transactional experience.

Salary Information:
Compensation is based on experience and includes equity compensation.
