Real Estate Paralegal Team Lead

Job Responsibilities

The Paralegal Team Lead is tasked with leading a department's paralegals and supporting the Associate Director of Paralegal Operations in daily operations. This role includes directing and maintaining a high-performing paralegal team. Key responsibilities include:

- Managing workflow coordination among assigned paralegals, including case/deal staffing and work reassignment, and partnering with work allocation managers as needed.
- Identifying training opportunities for the paralegal team to ensure professional development.
- Assisting with administrative duties related to team members, such as scheduling and reviewing/approving bi-weekly timecards and PTO requests.
- Collaborating with the Associate Director of Paralegal Operations to address potential performance issues, employee relations matters, or other areas of concern.
- Mentoring new paralegals and participating in onboarding new team members.
- Scheduling and hosting group meetings to provide information on firm initiatives, new software implementation, and guidance to paralegals.
- Performing substantive legal work on behalf of firm clients as directed by attorneys.
- Coordinating documentation and closing of real estate transactions, including sales, purchases, leases, and mortgage financing.
- Reviewing title commitments, title documents, and surveys.
- Ensuring pre-closing preparation and post-closing follow-up are completed timely.
- Conducting legal research, including retrieving statutes and regulations.

Education and Experience Information

To be considered for the Real Estate Paralegal Team Lead position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

- Two of the following are required: a four-year college degree, a Paralegal Certificate, and/or two years of previous paralegal experience.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred, or candidates should have attended supervisory/leadership/managerial training courses as defined by their current supervisor.

- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to independently organize large amounts of documents.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with legal software programs.
- Familiarity with electronic research tools and basic database skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and off-site at client locations, various firm offices, and other venues for extended periods.

Supervisory Responsibility

While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, it serves as a coach for other positions.

Travel

The position requires the ability to travel up to 10 times per year for extended periods.

Salary Information

The estimated compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, and New York is between $105,000 and $115,000, based on a full-time work schedule. This range is influenced by factors such as relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure, certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
